28 January 2019 – South Africa’s National Under 20’s (Amajita) scheduled friendly match against Ghana this afternoon has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Amajita will now play Niger’s professional league side, AS Police FC, ahead of their first Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations’ (AFCON) Group A match against host nation, Niger on 2 February.

This practice match will kick-off at 17h00 (SA time) at the Babagi Military Camp on 28 January.

Amajita have been in camp since 14 January preparing for the upcoming AFCON Under-20 set to run from 2 — 17 February 2019 in the city of Maradi and Niamey.

Top four finishers of this eight-nation continental football tournament will automatically qualify for this year’s upcoming FIFA Under-20 World Cup set to take place in Poland later in the year.

Amajita are in Group A alongside Niger, Burundi and Nigeria.

A top two finish in their group will see them forming part of the four African nations that are to represent CAF on the global football showpiece.

The 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup will run from 23 May to 15 June.
