25 January 2019 – The race to be crowned Gauteng champions in the ABC Motsepe League has reached fever pitch and things are about to get even more interesting this weekend.

Log leaders and strong title contenders, Baberwa FC face the unpredictable Pretoria Callies in Pretoria on Saturday.

Callies have collected maximum points in their last three matches and will not be looking at collecting anything less against their more fancied opponents who recently signed the skilful Luyolo Nomandela.

Baberwa have since lost one match heading into their 18th fixture of the season as they lead the standings with a seven-point gap from JDR Stars.

Stars in the meantime welcome M-Tigers who are also pushing for a respectable finish at the top half of the table. Tigers’ last three matches have concluded with a draw, loss and last week’s 1-0 win over FC Ma-Lions.

The Dube township of Soweto will be divided in two when Swallows FC face Dube Continental this afternoon at 15h00. Continental are still within reach of finishing at the top but will need to be consistent to dethrone the in-form Baberwa.

Down at the bottom, XI Experience have to start picking up points should they want to avoid the chop. They face Tembisa Sports Centre at home who are also in the danger of relegation.
