24 January 2019 – SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan took time out of his busy schedule to come and wish South Africa’s National Under-20 (Amajita) squad well for their upcoming CAF Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations tournament set to take place in Niger.

The President’s visit to SAFA’s Technical Centre in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening, comes after Amajita coach Thabo Senong named his 21-man squad on Wednesday morning that is set to compete in this year’s AFCON U20 tournament.

The continental football tournament will run from 2 – 17 February 2019 in the city of Maradi and Niamey.

Dr Jordaan made it clear to the SA juniors that he had absolute faith in them, and that he believes that they will make the country proud by doing well in this year’s eight-nation continental football showdown.

Meanwhile, Amajita captain Khulekani Kubheka said listening to the president speak during his visit rekindled the fire in them to continue wanting to produce positive results for the nation.

“The president made mention of legends like Doctor Khumalo, Mark Fish, Quinton Fortune and the like, and how they fought for the badge each time they donned national colours,” Kubheka said.

“These are the guys we look up to as national juniors because they did extremely well when representing the nation at the highest level. We want to do the same as well.”
