23 January 2019 – Somerset United lost out on the opportunity to stretch their lead to six points at the Mpumalanga Enhlanzeni SAB League this past weekend when they drew 2-2 against ninth placed Real Chiefs.

The Somerset based club have reached their halfway mark of the season with their draw being their 15th match of the campaign. Out of the 15, they have 10 victories, four draws and a single loss which sees them top the standings with 34 points.

Should they carry on with the fine form they’ve displayed, the log leaders will be way on their way to the SAB League Play Offs where they stand a chance of being promoted to the ABC Motsepe League next season.

It wont be easy sailing for them with Bayern FC, Mashishing United and Bakoena Chiefs all just four points behind them and anxiously waiting for them to make a slip and topple them at the top.

Should they want to be crowned champions and take a shot at ABC Motsepe League promotion, Somerset’s next three encounters will be crucial for their campaign. They are away to 10th placed Belfast United this weekend and play host to Cromandel FC the following weekend who are seventh after their 4-1 victory over Royal Birds.

They then face a stern test against fellow title chasers, Mashishing United in a top of the table clash which should produce fireworks.

There will also be some interesting ties this coming weekend in Enhlazeni as the season enters into it’s second stanza.
