16 January 2019 – Mangaung Unite extended their unbeaten start to the 2018/2019 season to the halfway mark this past weekend, disposing of Free State Stars 3-1 at Bohlokong Stadium in yet another impressive performance which extended their lead in the Free State ABC Motsepe League.

Gabriel Ncongwane’s side have now claimed 41 points from 45 after 15 games this season, with Saturday’s win extending their lead at the top to nine points.

Mangaung Unite’s head coach, Ncongwane, spoke to SAFA.net after the game and said his team is just taking it one game at a time.

“We just focused on ourselves and it’s game by game for us. Every game is a final for us,” Modutoane said.

“We need to keep this momentum and after the next couple of games, we will see where we are. Every game now matters,” he added.

BFN Young Tigers saw their winning streak halted at six with a surprise goalless draw at home against eighth-place Bloemfontein Celtic in a Bloemfontein Derby. A point was enough for Young Tigers to retain their second spot on the table despite wins by third and fourth-placed teams Sibanye Golden Stars and Harmony.

Both of them now at 31 points and a single point behind Young Tigers, Golden Stars and Harmony collected maximum points with a 3-1 and a 2-0 win against Dikwena United and Kovsies respectively.

Mphatlalatsane United won the bottom-of-the-table clash 3-0 against rock-bottom DLA2 who have lost 14 of their 15 games this season. A win for Mphatlalatsane moved them out of the relegation-zone to thirteenth on the table with 12 points.
