14 January 2019 – The 2018/19 edition Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League is set to go down to the wire if the current log table is anything to go by. With the season back in full swing following the festive break, this past weekend saw the battle for NFD promotion intensifying with clubs going at each other.
Sibanye FC may have won their match this past weekend but their slim two-point gap from the ever-improving PE Stars is something to worry about. Stars had a tough encounter against Amavarara this past weekend in a high scoring match which they eventually won 3-2 at home.
Future Tigers had to give it their all against Bush Bucks FC who are desperate to get out of the danger zone. In a highly competitive match, both sides had to settle for a point from an impressive 3-3 stalemate.
The popular Tornado FC who once made a name for themselves in the Nedbank Cup edged a highly spirited SUBS 2-1 at home while log leaders, Sibanye FC escaped with a narrow 1-0 victory to Butterworth FC.
Bizando Pondo Chiefs’ title hopes were dealt a deadly blow when they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Peace Makers. Chiefs will be hoping to bounce back this weekend when they welcome Bush Bucks who are yet to win a match in the new year.
