6 December 2018 – This picture aptly tells the story. This is the first intake at High Performance Centre (HPC) in Pretoria 13 years ago.

HPC is where most of the women national team players are drawn from. Here they combine and fine-tune their football know how and academic qualifications.

As a result, most of players within the women national teams are graduates from top universities, here and abroad, mostly in the USA.

The image is of past and present Banyana Banyana players some of who made history this past week by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in France next year.

Those still active in the current Banyana Banyana team are Captain, Janine van Wyk (front middle), Nompumelelo Nyandeni (front second from left) and Nomathemba Ntsibande (front second from right).

Kylie Ann Louw who is a coach in the USA (second row third from left) and Keneilwe Mathibela, the video analyst and SAFA coach educator (second from right middle row).
