4 December 2018 – South Africa’s national Under-20 (Amajita) squad started their COSAFA Under-20 Championship Group B fixtures on a high after subjecting Mauritius to a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe, Zambia.

All of Amajita five goals came in the first half of the match as they dominated matters from the onset up until full-time.

Amajita’s first goal came in second minute of the half when the eventual man of the match, Promise Mkhuma, forced an on-goal with his intended cross to Lyle Foster who was waiting for it inside the box.

Ten minutes later, Foster registered his first of the match when he was found unmarked inside the 16-yard box.

The Orlando Pirates striker just easily directed the ball into the back of the net, following a superb assist from Thabiso Monyane who spotted him unattended inside the area.

In the 22 minute, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo scored a beauty of a goal when he unleashed a powerful shot outside the 18-yard box to test the opposition goalkeeper’s handling.

Jean Michel failed that test as Ngcobo’s shot blast past his grip to make its way into the back of the net.

The COSAFA defending champions were now 3-0 up.

Foster scored his second of the match in the 25th minute to complete his brace, while Monyane registered Amajita’s fifth goal just few minutes going into the halftime break.

Mauritius came into the second half of the match better prepared in the rearguard as compared to their first half performance.

They thwarted every chance Amajita tried to create, as the defending champions continued pressing in search for more goals.

Amajita will now face Eswatini in their final Group B match at Nkana Stadium on 8 December 2018.

That match will kick-off at 13h00.

Winners of this group will automatically qualify for the semi-final fixtures which will take place on 11 December 2018.
