27 November 2018 – South Africa’s National Under-20 (Amajita) coach, Thabo Senong, expressed his delight over the amount of hard work his charges have been putting in training building up to this year’s COSAFA Under-20 Championship.

The Southern regional football tournament will run from 2 – 14 December 2018 in Kitwe, Zambia.

Senong stated that the attitude his group of players have towards their training sessions; will play a key role in helping them to get ready for the battle that is up ahead.

COSAFA Under-20 defending champions Amajita are in Group B, and will first lock horns with Mauritius on 3 December, before they play Namibia and Eswatini in their remaining group fixtures.

Amajita has been in camp in Germiston, Johannesburg since last week Friday (16 November 2018), preparing for the tournament.

“I must say that I am very happy with the team chemistry and attitude the players who reported for this camp,” Senong said. “They are very professional and everybody is just working really hard building up to this upcoming tournament. Ant that pleases me greatly. We play our first group match on 3 December and I believe this team will be ready when the tournament kicks off.”

Senong who only had 19 players in camp on Monday, added that he hopes to have more players reporting for camp in a few days’ time.

“We currently have 19 players in camp,” Senong said. “We are still waiting for a few to join us. Some players are still held up in their respective clubs, while others are still busy with their final school exams. These are some of the challenges we have been facing regarding player availability, however; we are working around the clock to have them resolved.”
