21 November 2018 – Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana take on Equatorial Guinea in the second match of the 2018 Women’s AFCON tournament currently underway in Ghana.
South Africa’s head coach Desiree Ellis has made three changes to the starting line-up that defeated Nigeria 1-0 in the first match of the tournament – bringing on goal scorer Thembi Kgatlana, Nompumelelo Nyandeni and Kgaelebane Mohlakoana in place of Busisiwe Ndimeni, Mamello Makhabane and Refiloe Jane.
The rearguard remains intact.
Playing in front of goalkeeper Kaylin Swart will be Lebohang Ramalepe (right back), Nothando Vilakazi (left back) as well as the central defence pairing of captain Janine van Wyk and Bambanani Mbane.
In the middle of the park, Mohlakoana and Nyandeni will assist Leandra Smeda and Linda Motlhalo.
Kgatlana has been charged with getting goals for the team, with Jermaine Seoposenwe playing as a second striker just behind her.
In the other Group B match, Nigeria faces Zambia in an early kickoff at the same venue – 15h30 local time (17h30 SA Time).
Zambia and South Africa are on three points each, but the Zambians top the table due to a better goal difference. The Super Falcons and Equatorial Guinea are yet to collect points.
