20 November 2018 – Head coach of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, Desiree Ellis, says she won’t allow complacency to creep in when they face Equatorial Guinea in the second match of the 2018 Women’s AFCON currently underway in Ghana.

South Africa is in second place in Group B with three points, level with Zambia who have a better goal difference. Banyana Banyana defeated tournament favourites and defending champions Nigeria 1-0, while the Zambians walloped Equatorial Guinea 5-0 in the other group match on Sunday, 18 November.

Ellis says while it was a great win against the Super Falcons, they have to put that behind them and focus on getting the much-needed three points against Equatorial Guinea for them to progress to the next round, and keep alive their hopes of making it into the top three of the tournament so they can qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
