19 November 2018 – Banyana Banyana forward Thembi Kgatlana scored her 11th goal of her international career to give South Africa a 1-0 win over Nigeria in the first match of the 2018 Women’s AFCON currently underway in Ghana.
This was Banyana Banyana’s first victory against the Super Falcons since 2012 in the same competition, with captain Janine van Wyk scoring the winning goal.
Kgatlana, who was voted Woman of the Match, was playing in her 41st match for her country. The match took place on Sunday, 18 November 2018 at the Cape Coast Stadium. Here’s what she had to say after the victory:
