12 November 2018 – After 10 rounds of fixtures in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League, Baberwa FC are still unbeaten and top the standings in the Gauteng leg of league. Out of ten fixtures, the log leaders have seven victories, and three draws which sees them in pole position with 24 points.

The departure of their former coach and former Kaizer Chiefs anchor-man, Jabulani Mendu has not destabilised the team as they marched to a comfortable 4-0 victory over bottom placed FC Ma-Lions this past weekend.

Baberwa boast some of the country’s finest passers of the ball with the likes of Mthokozisi Yende and Khethokwakhe Masuku recently signing for the club.

Hot on the log leaders’ trails is JDR Stars who have only suffered one defeat in their 10 outings. The title chasers thrashed Alexandra Black Aces 3-0 in their own backyard this past weekend to keep pressure on Baberwa as the Gauteng title race heats up.

Things will however get interesting this coming weekend when the top two sides clash in a top of the table encounter. JDR will be hoping to use home ground to their best advantage against the well organised Baberwa.

Both sides come into the clash high in confidence following their respective wins this past weekend which should result in an open and attack minded approach from both sides.

Alexandra United are also putting their hands up in the title race. The Alexandra based club has played the same number of games with six wins, two draws and losses to amass 20 points and occupy third spot.
