12 November 2018 – Head coach of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, Desiree Ellis says the match against Ghana was a worthwhile exercise and gave them enough food for thought as they enter the final week of preparations for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations tournament. which kicks off on Saturday, 17 November in Ghana.
South Africa lost 1-0 to the Black Queens of Ghana in what was the last warm up matches for both sides ahead of the competition. The clash took place on Sunday, 11 November at the Accra Sports Stadium – the venue for the final of the tournament on 1 December.
Ellis also spoke about Banyana Banyana’s Team of the Year award at the SA Sports Awards held in Bloemfontein on Sunday night.
