7 November 2018 – First Touch Academy won their first Limpopo Sasol League title under coach Thabo Tlouane after a 3-1 win over University of Limpopo on the final day of the season played on Sunday, 28 October. Moloko Chosi was the hero of the day after striking twice to sink the hosts.
Chosi found the back of the net in both halfs before Tlaki Matlakaneng put the game beyond the host’s reach with a perfectly executed header for her team’s third goal moments after she missed a spot kick.
Speaking to the SAFA.net, Chosi had this to say after First Touch’s win over the University of Limpopo.
“I’m very happy. This is my first Sasol League title. When I decided to come here at First Touch it was because of this – I dreamt of one day winning the Sasol League so I’m very happy because my dream came true. I am so happy – we worked hard every day to have these kinds of moments.”
Chosi also paid tribute to her coach, praising his work ethic. “He likes to work, this is his secret,” she said. “He works with passion every day. I am so happy for him because it’s never easy to come here in the first year and win the title. He deserves it because he works hard every day.”
The Polokwane-based club’s nearest challengers, Ma-Indies Ladies finished two points adrift after also winning their final match. They beat Sisters 2-1 away from home.
With MaIndies boasting a triple-figure goal difference to First Touch’s 95, First Touch went to their final game knowing they needed nothing less than a win to secure the title and anything less than that would have seen MaIndies being crowned champions.
In an interview with SAFA.net, the First Touch coach gave his players plenty of credit. “It’s a great achievement for the players. I have to thank their commitment, work-rate and patience. They showed great attitude and desire throughout the season. Now after this win I think we are ready for the national championships.”
