6 November 2018 – A month and a half of going without a victory, Mhluzi Black Rangers finally got a positive result on last week with a dominant performance in a 2-1 win over Nkomazi Real Aces at the Themba Senamela Stadium.
For the first time this season, The Rangers, who have struggled in front of goal, could have a sigh of relief as they put two past the visitors to end a 6-match losing streak which ran from the opening day of the season.
While Coach Sifiso Masuku believes that the results will be a much-needed boost for his players.
He said: “The win is good for the confidence. The first half, they created chances and put two away. We should have been leading 4-1 before the break.”
“The concern is that we gave away a soft goal.”
For most of the game, Rangers put up a positive display, ploughing forward tirelessly and creating several chances.
A 27th-minute strike by Thabang Shopane and a well-executed team effort goal seven minutes later by Mandla Mntambo completed a deserved come-back for the hosts as they went to halftime on the front foot.
Rangers face a monumental task on Sunday, 11 November, of trying to keep the positive results going when they face the 2016/17 champions and current league leaders Acornbush United.
