19 October 2018 – The Free State Sasol League title could be decided this weekend with two games to go before the conclusion of what has been an exciting season of women’s football in the Free State.

Defending champions, Bloemfontein Celtics who are just a point away from clinching and defending their title have been in scintillating form this season. With just two losses and a draw from 28 outings with the other 25 fixtures being victories for the defending champions.

Celtics are on 76 points with two matches remaining while second placed Tsunami Queens who have kept the pressure on the log leaders are four points behind, also with two games to go.

Knowing that a point will be enough for Celtics to be crowned champions, Queens will be targeting maximum points in both their remaining fixtures with the ambitious hope that Celtic will lose both their remaining matches. While this may be highly unlikely, the Free State Sasol League has been quite unpredictable, and anything is possible in these closing stages of the season.

Celtics will feel that victory is certain this weekend when they play host to Tumahole Ladies FC. However, Tumahole are quite desperate for points and will do anything to survive the chop as they occupy second spot from the bottom.

Should things not go their way this weekend, Celtic will face Simunye Ladies who have been blowing hot and cold this season.

Fellow title challengers Tsunami Queens face a stern test against CUT Ladies this weekend. CUT are third, just four points behind Queens and are targeting a second place finish.

Should Queens successfully see off CUT Ladies, they will have an even better chance of getting maximum points in their last match when they take on Black Urban FC who have been inconsistent this season.
