18 October 2018 – Highlands Park FC and Luso Africa are narrowly leading the pack in the Ekurhuleni SAB League title race with Dream Team, FC Forever and Alberton FC closely breathing down their necks.

After just seven rounds of matches played in the Ekurhuleni leg of South Africa’s largest grassroots development league, the competition is quite tough as teams battle for promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

While both Highlands Park and Luso Africa top the standings with five wins and two draws from seven outings, this weekend’s fixtures could see a change at the top with some tough fixtures set for the log leaders.

Highlands Park will be hoping to forget about their disappointing 1-1 draw against Vosloo Arsenal when they  face the unpredictable Shumba FC, who can cause a serious upset on a good day.

Luso Africa are away to the highly entertaining Katlehong Zone 3 FC on Sunday, 20 October in what promises to be a thrilling affair. Zone 3 are well known for their enterprising brand of football but that hasn’t been accompanied by goals which will be key against Luso Africa this weekend. They did however score three in a highly entertaining 3-3 draw against Shumba this past weekend.

Alberton FC who are looking at keeping the pressure on the top two are away to Kempton Park FC who have started off on a poor note with a single victory, a draw and five losses which sees them languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Rooted at the bottom of the log and desperate for their first win of the season, Elspark United Academy are at home to seventh placed, Vosloo United who have also been blowing hot and cold this season.
