17 October 2018 – Eric Malunga has thanked his teammates following victory on his SAB League debut.

The 21-year-old had a great start to life at the SAB League as his club Musina All Stars his first appearance for the club and the division following his recent move from Western Bombers FC who ply their trade in the Musina LFA.

Thomani Ndou, Musina All Stars head coach named the former Bombers FC centre back in the starting line up for the opening match against Tshisimani Top Challangers in Vhembe SAB League Stream H, following a string of impressive performances in the pre-season.

The youngster looked unfazed in front of a capacity crowd at Skombe Stadium and looked ready for SAB League football as he played the full 90 minutes in testing conditions on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking after the match Malunga reflected on his long-awaited debut.

“My teammates helped me prepare for this match. I think it was good, I was happy for the debut and happy for the win, that’s the most important thing” he told SAFA.net.

“My teammates helped me to be comfortable in the game, I am so thankful for that, and I think it was a good win. I didn’t think that I’d play the way I did, considering it was my first SAB League match.”

In the absence of experienced defenders Lucky Ndou and Lucious Ndou, coach Thomani Ndou decided to throw the young defender into the deep end against Tshisimani, saying that he sees great future ahead of him.

“The boy has a good future ahead of him. Since I brought him to all stars I only polished him on defensive basics, he already had confidence on the ball and very good communication skills as he is the last line of defence” said Thomani Ndou.

Musina All Starts are away to Tshiilamusi Super Eagles this in their next Vhembe SAB League outing on Sunday, 21 October and Malunga will be hoping to secure more minutes under his to continue with his development.
