15 October 2018 – Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC are not letting go of their Gauteng Sasol League title that easily. More especially to their crosstown rivals, TUT Football Club who are well on course to dethroning the Gauteng queens.
TUT are top of the Gauteng Sasol League on 73 points with just three matches to go before concluding their campaign. Should TUT win their remaining fixtures against Palace Super Falcons, Luso Africa and Nicko Taurus, they will finish the season on 82 points.
The Brazilians on the other hand have played three games less than TUT and should they win all their remaining fixtures, they will pip their rivals by 83 points and successfully defend their title.
As things stand, all remaining fixtures will be like cup finals for the Tshwane sides who both lost two of their key players to Australia’s Canberra United earlier this year. Rhoda Mulaudzi from Mamelodi Sundowns as well as TUT’s Refiloe Jane secured contracts with the Australian side and both sides have had to continue their fight for the title without their star players.
Both sides were in action this past weekend and continued their dominance in the Gauteng league. TUT trounced Palace Super Falcon 6-0 at home while Sundowns were away to Springs Home Sweepers where they emerged 2-0 victors to keep pressure on the log leaders.
