12 October 2018 – The race to be crowned Queens of North West football continues this weekend in the province’s Sasol League season. With just a few matches left to decide this season’s champions, the race looks to be between the top three of Golden Ladies, Royal Queens and De’ Scorpio.
While it may still be too early to decide but log leaders, Golden Ladies seem to be unstoppable this season. After 22 matches, the log leaders are yet to drop a single point, having won all their matches. Just behind them is Royal Queens who have played two games more than the log leaders and have only lost twice and drawn once this season.
Mathematically, De’ Scorpio’s title ambitions are still very much alive, but it would require a miracle for them to catch up to Golden Ladies and Royal Queens. De’ Scorpio have a game in hand over the log leaders but trail them with eight points which is still reachable should they collect maximum points in their remaining matches.
Looking at the bottom half, Gopane Ladies are rooted at the bottom of the table with just a single victory from 19 outings. Tlhabologang Ladies are just above Gopane Ladies with the same number of points but have quite a number of games in hand which gives them hope to survive the dreaded chop.
The Champs FC will need to put up a champion like performance in their remaining fixtures to ensure they have a place in next season’s Sasol Women’s League. After 24 matches, they have only registered two wins and a draw which sees them flirting with danger at the bottom.
