12 October 2018 – For football fanatics in the Mopani Region, it’s that time of the year where one of the most exciting SAB league’s in the Limpopo province begins.

The Mopani SAB League is a seven month long halfway journey to the province’s top-flight league – the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League with the other half of the journey being the provincial playoffs.

While the 2018/19 Mopani SAB League Nedbank Cup preliminary rounds begin this coming weekend on Sunday, 14 October, the league will kick-off the following weekend on Saturday, 20 October.

The Mopani region is set to have a new champion at the end of this season following Baobab Zero Fake’s successful campaign in the provincial playoffs on home soil. They finished second in a mini-league tournament of five teams grouped together in a single group with top two finishers guaranteed a spot in the 2018/19 Limpopo ABC Motsepe League season.

Last season’s regional playoff finalists and Stream A champions who now falls under newly-formed Stream C, Jackson Young Stars gets their season up and running with a home tie against newly-promoted Sekgopo Happy Boys.

New Makoti Happy Fighters boss Peace Khoza, who won the last two Mopani SAB League titles with Nkowankowa Barcelona and Zero Fake respectively is presented with a tough start with a visit to Khujwane Peace Makers for a Stream B opener.

Mariveni United, who represented Limpopo province for the last two season running in the Nedbank Cup last 32 will be looking to transfer their cup amazing performances to the Mopani SAB league and earn promotion to the ABC Motsepe League. They kick off their season with a home tie against Msipana Bacerlona at the Mariveni United Soccer Field.
