12 October 2018 – Four games into the season, Mangaung Unite have set themselves as strong title contenders in the Free State’s ABC Motsepe League. Unite has so far made a clean sweep of points and are looking to continue their fine form this weekend when they face Bloemfontein Young Tigers.
The log leaders got their campaign off to a great start with a 2-0 away victory over Dikwena United FC which was followed by a 3-1 win over Central University of Free State. They then had the tough task of facing former Free State champions, Super Eagles away from home where they came out victorious with a hard-fought 1-0 win.
Sibanye Golden Stars were the next victims when they went down 2-0 to the log leaders.
Hot on the trails of the log leaders are Harmony FC who are on the same amount of points having won all four of their opening matches and are merely separated from Unite by goal difference.
Harmony were a bit rusty in the opening match but grinded a good 1-0 away victory over Knowledge Glen FC which was followed by another 1-0 win over Dla2 FC. They then had to face the unpredictable Days FC where they emerged as 2-1 victors and overcame Bloemfontein Celtics by the very same scoreline last weekend to make it four wins out of four.
Looking at this weekend’s fixtures, all eyes will be on the Bloemfontein Young Tigers who after their 2-1 win over Mphatlatsane United FC have the tough task of facing the inform log leaders.
Another mouth-watering fixture on the cards certainly has to be between Bloemfontein Celtics playing host to Free State Stars in what promises to be an exciting fixture.
