10 October 2018 – Head coach of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, Desiree Ellis, says the tour of Chile was a great success as it gave an indication as to how ready the team is for the upcoming Africa Women’s Cup of Nations scheduled for Ghana from 17 November to 1 December. South Africa played two matches against their counterparts from Chile – losing one match (2-1) and drawing the other (2-2). Ellis is now left with the task of selecting her squad for AFCON, which serves as a 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier where the top three nations will represent Africa in France. The draw for AFCON takes place on Sunday, 21 October in Accra, the capital of Ghana. Listen to Ellis talks about the Chile matches and the readiness of her squad.
