26 August 2018 –Referee Daniel Bennett, will participate in Thursday’s (27 August 2018) FIFA match officials’ fitness test after he was unable to do so in the month of July due an injury he suffered leading up to that special workshop.

Bennett will be joined by fellow South African Lindiwe Twala and Botswana based match official Pearl Moremi, who both failed their respective tests in that very month.

SAFA’s head of Referees, Tenda Masikhwa, stated that Chris Harrison was supposed to be the third South African to be participating in tomorrow’s fitness test set to take place at the University of Johannesburg Sports Grounds in Westdene but will miss this one as he (Harrison) is still recovering from an injury he experienced earlier in the year.

“We are going to have two South African match officials who will be taking part in this FIFA fitness test,” Masikhwa said. “The first one is Daniel Bennett, who could not run earlier this year due to an injury he sustained during that period.

“The other one is Lindiwe Twala who failed the previous test and would be going for her second test in pursuit of retaining her FIFA badge. It is quite unfortunate that Chris Harrison has not completely recovered from his previous injury, and will therefore miss out on this upcoming test,” added Masikhwa.
