19 September 2018 – The Orlando Pirates U17 boys’ team is currently dominating the U17 Gauteng Development League. The young buccaneers have registered an impressive 14 victories out of a possible 17, drawing once and losing twice.

Their closest contenders to the title are Wits Juniors who held them to a tough 1-1 draw this past weekend to keep their second-place position with eight points separating the two sides.

With a number of exciting fixtures taking place this weekend, MySAFA had the opportunity to speak to young and ambitious Elspark FC coach, Muzi Shangase who is determined to lead his side to a good finish. Elspark are currently 16th on the 20 team log and looking at moving up the table.

Shangase, who took over the East Rand based club with the aim of improving the side’s performance following a dismal start to the season believes his side will soon get the desired results and move up the ladder.

The young aspiring coach, who holds a CAF B License says the club is very ambitious and will soon get things right.

“We have been working hard on a few things at training and I believe we will soon be climbing up the ladder. The squad comprises of exciting talent which just needs patience and tactical sharpness which is what I am bringing to the team” said the ambitious coach.

The Gauteng Development League is spearheaded by the South African Football Association as part of the Association’s Vision 2022 of widening the pool of players, coaches, referees and administrators for the continuous improvement of football.
