4 September 2018 – The FIFA Futuro III Referee Instructors Course kicked off in Kempton Park, Southern Sun OR Tambo International Airport on Monday, 3 September 2018.

The course which is being run under the auspices of the South African Football Association (SAFA), kicked off on a positive note with participants drawn mostly from African Anglophone countries.

There are also participants from Angola, Egypt and Mozambique.

Manuel Navarro, FIFA Deputy Head of Refereeing, in his opening remarks, said he was excited about the timing of this course and hoped participants will come out wiser. He encouraged members to embrace new trends in football in order to make the game more interesting and to move with the times.

Former English football referee David Elleray and Technical Director of International Football Association Board who was among the participants, shared some interesting points during his talk. He said changes in the Laws of the Game were meant to make the game better and fairer.

Technical Instructors for this symposium include An Yan Lim Kee Chong from Mauritius, Noumandiez Doue from Ivory Coast and Jerome Damon from South Africa while the physical instructors are Ms Tracey Lovell from South Africa and Mark Mzengo from Malawi.

Course moderator, Carlos Henriques will ensure that the course runs smoothly. The proceedings end on Saturday.
