30 August 2018 – SAFA’s team administrative manager, Levy Ramajoe and SA U17 Girls national team coach, Simphiwe Dludlu will fly out to Uruguay this Sunday, 2 September for the upcoming FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup workshop.

The workshop will take place in the city of Montevideo from 3 to 6 September where logistical matters regarding the whole tournament will be discussed.

Bantwana qualified for the global showpiece after beating Morocco 6-1 on aggregate in final round of the Caf Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Ramajoe, who served as a team administrator for the various South Africa’s national men’s teams which qualified for the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics Games gave a brief summary of what will be discussed in the upcoming FIFA workshop.

“This workshop will focus more on the logistical side of things of the national teams who will be participating in this upcoming world event. For example, this is where we are going to find out where our national team will be staying during the duration of the tournament. We are also going to have site visits of where our national team will be training and playing. This will all happen in the last few days of the workshop.”

Ramajoe continued: “In the first two days, we are going to have FIFA World Cup officials educate us on what will be expected of the national teams who will participating there. For example, how many players will be expected per national team, and things like what size the jersey number and name should be on a player’s national team jersey. They have already communicated this type of information to us”.

Ramajoe also added that this will be a good experience for Dludlu who will be attending her first ever FIFA World Cup workshop, adding that it will play a key role in helping her to prepare for what is to come in the global showpiece.

The FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup will take place from 13 November – 1 December 2018.

“This will be Dludlu’s first FIFA World Cup workshop,” Ramajoe said. “I believe that she will gain a whole lot of experience in this workshop and by the time she goes back there with the national team, she will be ready to deal with what is expected from her by FIFA as the head coach of our national juniors.”
