30 August 2018 – Goalkeeper coach Andre Arendse has withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad that will face Libya due to family commitments.

Head coach Stuart Baxter has lamented the loss of the former South Africa’s number at such a crucial period.

“It really is a sad loss to not to have the services of Andre, whom I have worked with for a long time. It is even more difficult not to have him at such a crucial time when we are resuming our AFCON qualifying campaign, but I have to understand his situation,” said Baxter.

“We are going into camp on Sunday (2 September), which means we don’t have time, so I have the whole of Friday (31 August) to get a replacement, and it must be someone who I believe will do the job for our last line of defence. And as soon as I have a name, we will make an announcement.”

South Africa takes on the North Africans in the second match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The clash is scheduled to take place on, 8 September 2018 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Kickoff is at 15h00.

South African U17 Men’s National Team head coach Molefi Ntseki has been appointed as Baxter’s assistant for the qualifiers.

Bafana Bafana will assemble for camp on Sunday, 2 September 2018 in Johannesburg, and travel to Durban the next day.
