29 August 2018 – Head coach of in-form Western Cape ABC Motsepe League side, The Magic FC David Kennemeyer has emphasised the importance of claiming back-to-back wins against Santos FC.

The Magic faced Santos in a Western Cape ABC Motsepe League Nedbank Cup Last 16 on Saturday, 25 August and will face the same opponents again this Friday in a Western Cape ABC Motsepe League tie.

Danian Wareley’s solitary goal of the game was enough to hand The Magic a 1-0 win over Santos and earn them a place in the Western Cape Nedbank Cup quarterfinals.

“It was one of those tough away games,” he said. “We have a very solid defence, and failing to keep a clean sheet in our first two games came as a concern to me. We worked on that at training and happy we managed to fix that.”

The Magic conceded two goals in their two leagues so far, they thrashed Ajax Cape Town 4-1 in their opening game of the season before defeating Mbekweni Cosmos FC 3-1 in their first home league game of the season.

“The Nedbank Cup is history now, we are fully focused on the league game against Santos. For us as a team, we want to keep on going and bag points.” The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns left back concluded.
