22 August 2018 – The Women’s Administrators Course for 2018, organised by the South African Football Association (SAFA) and funded by the world governing body FIFA, is in full swing at the SAFA Technical Centre (Fun Valley).
Now on Day 3, the course ends on Thursday, 23 August.
Several speakers have taken to the podium to give talks on various topics.SAFA Vice President Ria Ledwaba kicked off the proceedings talking about the role and responsibilities of women in football, as well as opportunities available for females in the game. SAFA CEO Dennis Mumble touched on the same topic and made a presentation on the Association’s Vision 2022. Emma Hendricks, President of SAFA ZF Mgcawu Region in the Northern Cape, encouraged women to seize the opportunities that come their way, adding that they must learn to stand on their own.
Mlungisi Ncame, from the SAFA CEO’s Office, gave a talk on Governance, Integrity and Sexual Harassment, while Sports Psychologist, Dr Nomsa Nkuna-Boikanyo educated the delegates about Dealing with Stress in the Workplace.
Other speakers at the workshop included Frans Mogashoa – Head of Department: Coaching Education talking about coaching; Tenda Masikhwa – Head of Department: Refereeing; SAFA Chief Financial Officer Gronie Hluyo, educating the delegates about Preparing a Budget and How to Manage Finances; Russell Paul – Head of Department: Events and Marketing on how sponsorship works and what it takes to put events together; and Thomas Sadiki – Head of Department: Competitions, talking about the various SAFA tournaments.
Day 3 saw Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis opened the proceedings with a talk on the selection criteria in the national team, and also touched on the importance of the newly-appointed Provincial Technical Officers, and how they can help national team coaches with scouting and identifying talent in their respective areas.
Guest speaker Anneline Lewies from SASCOC spoke on Child Protection, while Mapule Mogane from the SAFA CEO’s Office informed the gathering about FIFA’s Live Your Goal programme.
Still to come are Muditambi Ravele: Chairperson – SA Women and Sport Foundation; South African U17 Women’s National Team head coach, Simphiwe Dludlu to talk about Bantwana’s qualification and the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup; as well as Jessica and Kemiso Motaung – Marketing Director and Digital Manager at Kaizer Chiefs respectively.
The course is on it’s third year, as it was first hosted in 2016 and 2017.
Invited to the event are 52 Regional Executive Officers – the women who run football in their respective regions, as well as referees, Provincial Technical Officers.
