1 August 2018 – Bloemfontein Celtic continue to show why they are the best women’s club in the Free State through the Free State Sasol Women’s League. Siwelele, as in previous years sit comfortably at the top of the table after amassing 49 points from 17 matches played. Siwelele have only drawn once this season with the other matches going their way as they continue to dominate Free State football.

The Bloemfontein based side has since become a regular feature in the annual Sasol National Championships and should they maintain their form this season, they will definitely see themselves competing against the other provincial winners later this year in the national championships.

With the South African Football Association (SAFA) hard at work in preparation for the inaugural professional women’s league, as a PSL affiliated club, Bloemfontein Celtic will get automatic qualification to the league, thus leaving room for the runners up to secure a place in the new league.Should Celtic finish at the top, the race will be between Tsunami Queens, CUT Ladies and Kolisang Ladies who are all raising their hands to become the best runners up of the Free State.

As it stands, Tsunami Queens have a better chance and mathematically still in contention to pip the log leaders to the title with just eight points separating them and will need to win their match against Nigol FC this weekend should they want to keep the pressure on Celtic.

CUT Ladies are on 37 points and have had a great season this year. A total of 11 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses see them occupy third place with still a lot to play for in the season.

Kolisang Ladies are quite behind but with a game in hand and bagging maximum points in their upcoming fixatures, things could turn interesting in the Free State leg of the Sasol League.
