16 July 2018– Burger-King Sponsored South Africa’s national Under-20 (Amajita) coach, Thabo Senong, is confident that his charges will come back with the required result when they face Malawi in the second leg of the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations third round qualifier this Saturday.

This comes after Amajita gave a solid performance to deny Malawi all scoring opportunities in their 0-0 draw out in Moruleng Stadium this past Sunday, while also creating a decent number of scoring opportunities of the their own.

Senong stated that it was just unfortunate that luck was on their side on the day, however, also revealed that this is one area that he and his technical staff are planning to improve on building up to the second leg matchup.

Winners of this third and final round between South Africa and Malawi will automatically qualify for the AFCON U20 set to take place in Niger, where four nations that will represent Africa in the 2019 Fifa Under-20 World Cup Poland edition, will be decided.

“This was only the first half of the match,” Senong said. “The second half will be played out in Malawi. We would have loved to have scored; however, luck was not on our side in this matchup. We now have a lot of work to do when we travel there. We just need to continue with our high level of concentration we showed in our play, and make sure that we do not concede while creating scoring opportunities of our own there.

“We’ll continue giving our boys the required confidence going there for the second leg. We’ll continue working on finishing our chances because our team is really solid in the rearguard, and it is the goal scoring part that we really need to sort out.

Senong continued: “It’s another 90 minutes away from home. And one thing about this team is that we always score and defend well whenever we play away. I have no doubt that we’ll do well in Malawi.”
