13 July 2018 – The sixth Sasol League provincial roadshow will take place at the Robert Gunda Stadium in Upington this weekend. The roadshow will encompass a full round of Northern Cape Sasol League fixtures pitting the province’s best women’s football teams against each other in a festival of football. The roadshow will also see Banyana Banyana head-coach, Desiree Ellis in attendance, working with local coaches on scouting techniques with the aim of spotting local talent in order to broaden the selection pool for the national team.

“The Sasol League roadshows prove to be showing great talent around the country. I’m very pleased with the five provinces we have visited thus far, I believe we have skilled players that have the potential to make it into the national team,” said Ellis.

“The roadshows have been immensely valuable in giving myself the opportunity to not only view talent around the country, but to also work and interact with local coaches and learn from each other. As a coach myself, I know some of the challenges they go through, so I’m very happy to be able to contribute to their skills development and share some tips.”

On the day, sixteen Northern Cape Sasol League teams will be in action with six games taking place.

The stand out teams for the day are the 2017 Sasol League provincial champions, RC Mills Ladies and Tlhaping Flowers Ladies who have a large number of upcoming under 18 players.

Nozipho Mbatha, Sasol Group Brand Marketing Manager, added, “It’s been such a great opportunity travelling around the country witnessing some of the best talent in women’s football. We hope to see a similar standard of play in Northern Cape this weekend. The Sasol League roadshows have indeed helped shine a spotlight on women’s football across South Africa. Women’s football is going from strength to strength and we hope that through these roadshows, South Africa has seen what Sasol League has to offer.”
