25 June 2018 – A disappointing 1-0 loss at home at the hands of reigning Gauteng Sasol League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns was not enough for Bedfordview side, JVW to lose hope in their title chase as they came back a much more determined side to thrash Soweto Fabulous 3-0 at the Nike Centre in Soweto this past weekend.

JVW had a tough encounter on Friday against the champions who are now five points behind cross-town rivals, TUT Football.

A well taken free kick from the Banyana Banyana forward, Rhoda Mulaudzi was enough for the reigning champions to seal a victory away from home against the resilient JVW.

Speaking after the match, JVW Claudi Raposo bemoaned the loss saying that the match was an evenly balanced affair and only separated by the goal conceded by a free kick.

“From the start it was a game for both sides. They were very strong up front, but I think we also matched them and stepped up. Our defence line was very physical, and we didn’t allow them through and It was just unfortunate that a cheeky free kick gave them the goal. Other than that, I think we dominated every other tackle” said Raposo.

Meanwhile Croesus maintained their third place with a 4-0 hammering of NWU Vaal at home while Palace Super Falcons had the beating of VUT FC with a 5-0 winning.

Another Tshwane side registered a victory this past weekend as TUKS easily brushed aside Springs Home Sweepers 3-0 at home to keep pressure on the title chasers.
