22 June 2018 – The Orlando Pirates U17 side is currently leading the pack in the Gauteng Development League as the league approaches its midway mark. The young Buccaneers top the standings after 12 rounds of fixtures having won 10 and lost two.

The Gauteng Development League which boasts 21 teams including Pirates, Supersport United, Bidvest Wits, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns has provided the perfect platform for youngsters to compete weekly across the province.

The action continues this weekend as Supersport United welcome the School of Excellence as they aim to keep pressure on Orlando Pirates while Wits plays host to Ezenkosi on the same day.

Fairfield Sports Academy are high in confidence following their impressive 3-1 win over Pirates. They face Lenasia Soccer Academy in what should be a walk in the park considering Lenasia Academy’s 18th placed position on the log.

Amakhosi are back in action after having last played three weeks ago in a disappointing 4-2 loss against Supersport United. They face Rosina Sedibane Sports School who have also been poor this season, amassing just 9 points from 10 matches.

Surprise package of the league, Khathorus Hyper Academy have a tricky encounter against Highlands Parkwho are playing catch up with four games in hand. Highlands Park occupy 8th position from nine matches and a win against Khathorus will most certainly boost their title ambitions.
