18 June 2018 – Following a lengthy delay due to drought challenges, the Western Cape edition of the Sasol Women’s League finally got underway this past weekend with some really eye-catching fixtures, proving that the ladies have been raring to go.

Due to it’s vast geographical nature, the Western Cape is separated into two streams which were both in action.

Milano United kicked off the season against RV United who easily brushed them aside in their own backyward with a 4-0 victory on Saturday, 16 June.

The following day saw three gripping fixtures in stream A. League favourites, Cape Town Roses had to fight of a feisty Santos FC with a narrow 3-2 victory at home while Portia FC humiliated Nietvoorbij 8-0 at home in a result that shot them straight to the summit.

Mananberg Ladies were held by a resilient Burnley United in a goalless stalemate in what was a highly tactical approach by both sides. They will have to put up a better performance this weekend when they face Cape Town Roses at home who are high on confidence following their win over Santos.

Moving over to the B Stream, Phoenix Spurs couldn’t handle the rampant Spurs WFC as they walloped them 6-0 at home while Ikamva United suffered by the same misery to a ruthless UWC Ladies side.

Maties FC and UCT Ladies couldn’t be separated as they played out to a 2-2 draw while Vasco Da Gama put four past Dangerous Heroes with a convincing 4-2 victory.
