15 June 2018– The Women’s National selections are on the move again. This time they are heading to Bohlokong Stadium in the SAFA Thabo Mofutsanyana Region in Bethlehem, Free State Province.
The event will take place on Sunday, 17 June 2018 from 09h00 to 17h00.
This is the fourth province to be visited by the national selectors, led by Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis. Also in attendance will be newly appointed Provincial Technical Officer Martha Malaku.
The talent identification tour has already been to Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga provinces and the visits are part of a follow up to last year’s women’s football national selections that were successfully carried out in all nine provinces.
The initiative is aimed at assisting all the women’s national teams, which will all be active this year:
- Banyana Banyana will take part in the 2018 COSAFA Cup in September as well as the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in November.
- Bantwana (the South African U17 Women’s National Team) will participate in the 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay from 13 November to 1 December
- Basetsana (the South African U20 Women’s National Team) will play in the Region 5 Games
