13 June 2018 – Head coach of the South African U17 Women’s national team, Simphiwe “Shorty” Dludlu urged all South Africans to play an active part in the development of women’s football in the country. Dludlu was speaking at the Banyana Banyana celebratory press conference where head coach, Desiree Ellis addressed members of the media on what it took to secure a place in the African women’s showpiece set to take place in Ghana this year.
Dludlu, a former Banyana Banyana player made a plea to South Africans to make their way to Sasol League matches across the country and rally behind the women’s game.
