12 June 2018 – If the current Gauteng Sasol League table is anything to go by, fans are set for a photo finish in this season’s edition of the Sasol Women’s league. After nine rounds of fixtures, the title is temporarily in the hands of the two Tshwane sides, TUT Football Club and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The two club’s from the nation’s capital are on a serious race to top honours with TUT leading the race after edging their crosstown rivals 1-0 in a derby played at the UJ Stadium last month.
The reigning champions will not let their nemesis easily walk away with the title which is set to go down right to the wire. Both sides have played an equal number of matches and only separated by the three points gained by TUT from their narrow victory in the Tshwane derby.Quietly going about their business is Croesus FC who have the potential to cause an upset when the season ends but that would take a lot of determination and but most importantly, consistency from their side.
Croesus has been playing enterprising football and punching above their weight this season. They sit third on the log with 8 wins and a draw from 9 matches while only conceding a mere 8 goals.
JVW on the other hand have somewhat not lived up to expectations and find themselves in an unfamiliar 6th position on the log. The Bedfordview side can draw solace from their two games in hand and will be hoping to collect all three points when they take on NWU Vaal FC this weekend in a tricky away encounter.
