5 June 2018 – After just eight rounds of fixtures, the KwaZulu-Natal Sasol Women’s League has reached fever pitch with Lindelani Ladies and Barcelona FC leading the pack in a hot pursuit to being crowned KZN champions.
Lindelani Ladies top the standings with 22 points following a 5-0 drubbing of UKZN at home, registering their seventh win of the season with the other being a draw against second placed Barcelona two months ago.
Barcelona were just as impressive this past weekend when they easily brushed aside MUBS Ladies 4-0 to keep the title chase exciting.
Defending champions, Sunflower FC who represented the province at the national championships last season have been rather disappointing for their lofty standards. The reigning champions are eighth on the log but will take courage in the fact that they have played two games less than the log leaders.
Another dark horse of the league is third placed Durban Ladies who weren’t in action this past weekend but have recorded a healthy fifteen points from six games, just two less from the log leaders.
