03 June 2018 – The South African Football Association is delighted with the ruling of first, the SAFA Disciplinary Committee, and later an Arbitrator, which have both found Phiva Stars FC  in the Mpumalanga stream of the ABC Motsepe League guilty of fraudulently and improperly fielding a player in at least six matches.

The disciplinary process and ruling follow an intensive investigation by the SAFA Integrity Office into allegations against the club during the current season.

The Arbitrator confirmed the ruling of the Disciplinary Committee, that Phiva Stars FC will forfeit the points gained in the six matches, but they will not be awarded to any other club.

This means T.S. Sporting FC are now the Mpumalanga Provincial Champions and will thus represent the province at the playoffs of the ABC Motsepe League scheduled to take place in Polokwane from 04 to 09 June 2018.

The Association views the offense committed by Phiva Stars FC in a very serious light and warns any other club that intends to commit fraud and match fixing that they will be dealt with harshly.

“We have intensified our integrity checks in all leagues, referees and competitions structures in our on-going effort to instill the spirit of fair play amongst all our stakeholders” says SAFA CEO, Dennis Mumble

SAFA has conducted Integrity workshops in seven (7) out of the nine (9) provinces where we educate members about how to combat corruption and match fixing in football.

The outstanding workshops in North West and KZN will take place during June 2018.
