1 June 2018 – Maccabi FC coach Mokete Tsotetsi said his team’s preparations for the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs are done. Maccabi is among the nine teams that will fight it out for two places in the National First Division.
The play-offs of the SAFA ABC Motsepe League will start on Monday 4 June, with Maccabi starting their campaign against Magareng Young Stars of the Northern Cape, before crossing swords with TS Sporting from Mpumalanga.
Having missed out in the play-offs last year, Maccabi are positive that they can do better.
Their coach Tsotetsi who is also a former Kaizer Chiefs defender said the mini-camp they held in Polokwane to acclimatize and the friendlies they played in helped them prepare.
“We went to Polokwane to get a feel of how it is to play there. We held camp there and the players are now familiar with the environment. What is left for us is to put what we have been working on to win,” Tsotetsi said.
“We are not going to change things because our processes helped us win in Gauteng. The same structures will be applied in the play-offs as we believe in our chances. The players are really excited and what we are thinking about now is this big opportunity that can take us to the National First Division,” the former Amakhosi defender said.
Super Eagles of the Free State and Uthongathi were the two teams that gained promotion in last year’s play offs with Eagles failing to hold onto their NFD status after being relegated and are now back in the ABC Motsepe League.
