20 May 2018– Head coach of the Burger King-sponsored South African U20 Men’s National Team (Amajita), Thabo Senong, has named an unchanged starting 11 that will take on Mozambique in the second leg second round of the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The match will be played this afternoon (Sunday, 20 May 2018) at Moruleng Stadium near Rustenburg.

Kickoff is at 15h00 and entry is free.

Khulekani Kubheka, who is also the captain of the side, is in goals.

Givemore Khupe, Malebogo Modise, Thabo Moloisane and Njabulo Blom make up the defence.

Slotting into the midfield are Siphesihle Mkhize, Wiseman Meyiwa, Kobamelo Kodisang and Tashreeq Matthews, while Lyle Foster and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo will be trusted with getting goals.

Midfielder Goodman Mosele will not be considered for the match after picking up a groin injury at training.

He will be joined in the stands by three players – Giovanni Idi, Thabo Moloi and Keegan Mitchel.

Starting on the bench are Glen Baadjies, Luke Fleurs, Reece Vetter, Duncan Adonis, Jesse Donn, Promise Mkhuma and Shungu Dutiro.

The two nations played to a 1-1 draw a week ago (Saturday, 12 May) in Beira City Mozambique, and with an away goal advantage, South Africa will be looking to finish off the job at home.

IN THE EVENT OF A 1-1 DRAW AFTER 90, THERE WILL BE NO EXTRA TIME – PENALTIES WILL BE TAKEN TO DETERMINE THE WINNER.

  • A goalless draw will see South Africa proceed to the next round on the away goal rule
  • With a 1-1 all draw after full time, a penalty shootout will ensue to determine the winner
  • A draw of two goals each (2-2, 3-3) or more, will see Mozambique go through on the away goals rule

Whoever wins this encounter advances to the third and final round where they will come face to face with either Angola or Malawi, who also also meet this afternoon in Luanda.

Angola lead 2-1 from the first leg.
