17 May 2018 – A total of 18 teams in the SAB Regional League in Ekurhuleni had just over 3,060 minutes to contest for the league title, and in the end, XI Experience walked out as the champions.

Experience won 26 of their 34 matches, with Luso Africa the closest side to the champions, winning 24.

The other matches ended with five draws and just three defeats for Experience, while second placed Luso drew seven times and lost three times.

In the end, Experience finished the season with a mammoth 83 points, becoming the only side to go over the 80 points mark, while Luso narrowly missed out, finishing on 79 points.

Speaking to SAFA.net on Thursday morning, head coach of XI Experience, Veli Nkosi says the team has put the celebrations behind them and they are now fully focused on the upcoming play offs.

“It was a very tough season with a lot of ups and downs but we managed to remain focused on the prize. The team is excited after winning the league but we need to quickly put the celebrations behind us because there is an even bigger task ahead of qualifying for the ABC Motsepe League. Day and night, we are constantly thinking about the play offs and come the day, we will be ready to give it our best shot” said Nkosi.

FC Porto finished bottom of the log with 10 points from 34 outings.

Porto won just two games all season, losing a shocking 28 times and drawing four matches. The bottom side was not the only team in the league to struggle to hit the 20-point mark after all the matches.

Corinthians were another who could only manage 19 points that came from four wins, seven draws and 23 defeats.
