17 May 2018 – Winchester United FC are on course to claim a spot in the SAFA Bojanala 2017/18 regional play offs. With only six games to play, Winchester are nine points ahead of second placed Captain Eleven FC who have a game in hand.

The league leaders have lost one and drew the same in their last five games and their head coach Kenalemang “Juju” Moreo who joined them earlier this season from Mankwe Campus FC believes he has all it takes to take the title. After carefully studying all his previous opponents Moreo came to a conclusion that most, if not all them play the same type of football.

On Saturday, Moreo’s side travels to Wonderkop Stadium for an away tie against 10th placed P4 Academy who are on a poor run of form. With only one win in their last five fixtures, Moreo expects them to play just as all his previous opponents.

“It’s an away game, normally we would go for a slightly defensive 4-4-2, but I have observed all the teams we’ve played against in this league and most of them play defensive football. Whether we playing them home or away, they’re always playing defensive football,” Noted Moreo. “So the best strategy for me is to go all out. I will use an offensive 3-5-2 formation, tighten up the midfield and not allow them to penetrate through to our defence. By so doing, we will be forcing them to play route one balls which will be favourable to us because obviously our last man will just be picking up the loose balls then we play from the back,” said the 29-year-old former Mankwe coach.

“By playing from the back, we will be inviting them to commit, once they do so, we move the ball very quickly from the back to sideways and even quicker to the attacking third. I always tell my attacking midfielders not to drop too deep because we have less defending to do during games,” Concluded Moreo.

On the other Saturday fixtures, second placed Captain Eleven plays Mpela Ambassoders FC whilst Data FC travels to Moeka Ground to face Moeka Real Stars FC.
