7 May 2018 – Somhlolo FC are in a tight race to the finish line with Flymingo United as the Gert Sibande SAB League season draws closer to conclusion. Somhlolo lead united by a mere point and any slip up will see their closest rivals edge them to the play offs for a place in the ABC Motsepe League.
United on the other hand will be aiming to use their one game advantage to pip the log leaders who have three tough matches before the conclusion of the season.
The two top sides will have to be wary of the league’s dark horse, Breyton Home Sweepers who still have a mathematical chance of finishing top should they slip up in the final round of matches.
Looking further down the relegation zone, Aramburg FC and Stoner Breakers look set to return back to LFA football with Flying Stars securing themselves a place in next season’s SAB League. Both Aramburg and Breakers sit on a paltry 13 points with no chance of survival with three games left.
The SAFA SAB League remains to be one of the biggest contributors to South African football talent with more than 40 000 footballers under the age of 21 playing football on a weekly basis throughout the country.
