24 April 2018 – Amajita head coach Thabo Senong is pleased with the progress made in the first training camp of the Burger King sponsored South African Men’s U20 National Team ahead of their 2019 CAF U20 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique next month.
Amajita played four practice matches during the ten day camp where they managed to win two practice matches against ABC Motsepe League’s Baberwa 2-0 and Bidvest Wits reserves 2-1 respectively.
They lost their first practice match against ABC Motsepe League side Maccabi 2-0 and drew goalless against Varsity League’s University of Johannesburg, in their last match.
Senong believes that they have managed to do the ground work by introducing the culture of Amajita to the players but maintains that there is still a lot of work to be done in the next camp. “We would firstly like to thank the clubs for releasing their players for this camp. It was a very important camp for the future of Amajita. We had a huge pool of players to pick from and we are satisfied with the 29 players that were in camp. We managed to get a lot done in this past 10 days and I am glad that the foundation has been laid however” said the Amajita mentor.
Senong added that he would like to have his next camp quite son to ensure that he has adequate preparation time for the crucial encounter against Mozambique.
