23 April 2018 – Working closely with head coach of the South African men’s U20 national team, Thabo Senong, Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter conducted a training session for Amajita on Sunday as part of the team’s training camp.

Baxter conducted the session at the UJ Soweto campus, sharing his wealth of experience with the youngsters as part of their grooming process. This was the second time the Bafana Bafana coach worked with Amajita after doing so last year before the team jetted off to Zambia where they were crowned COSAFA U20 Youth Champions.

In the effort of ensuring the South African Football Association stays on track with Vision 2022, Baxter believes that inspiring younger players is a huge must for him and hinted that he may surprise the nation when he announces his 2018 COSAFA Cup squad in May.

“Inspiring these young players is the best way to motivate them to work hard and possibly fight for a spot in senior teams at their respective clubs but it is also the best way of showing them that they have the potential of being part of the Bafana Bafana and the Olympic Team. We had a good session with the boys and their hunger. It is encouraging to see how passionate they are about the game and I hope they stay focused” said Baxter.

Amajita are still on track with their training camp, ahead of their fast approaching 2019 CAF U20 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in this month against Mozambique who beat Seychelles 6-0 on aggregate in the first round of qualifiers.

The away leg will be played on the weekend of 11-13 May 2018, while the home leg will be played on either 19 or 20 May at a venue yet to be confirmed.
