19 April 2018 – Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter is keeping his word on building stronger relationships with Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs and recently paid Chippa United a visit in a league encounter against Ajax Cape Town at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Baxter watched as United played out to an evenly balanced 1-1 draw against the struggling Ajax Cape Town before joining United coach, Vladislav Heric and his technical staff for dinner.
“Attending such matches is about identifying more players that can develop into future Bafana Bafana players. It is important that we develop and maintain a close relationship with the clubs and technical teams because they play a critical part in what we want to achieve for our national teams” said Baxter.
Bafana Bafana were yesterday drawn up against the winners of Group A in the COSAFA Cup which will be played in Polokwane next month from 27 May to 9 June.
Group A consists of Madagascar, Mozambique, Comoros and Sychelles.
The COSAFA Cup will provide Baxter and opportunity to possibly identify players that will assist Bafana Bafana later this year when they resume their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.
